How To Tell If Your Car Tyres Have Expired

Tyres are made of rubber and rubber degrades with age and temperature whether used or not.

Apparently, only a handful of Nigerians were aware of the fact that vehicle tyres come with expiry dates.

And according to Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), expired tyres account for a large number of road accidents nationwide.

So, how can one tell if one’s tyres have attained their expiry dates?

First, vehicle tyres have a 4-year validity period from their Date of Manufacture (DOM) (though some Safety groups in some countries recommends 6 years). However, considering our peculiar rough driving terrains, and our temperate climate, it makes a whole lot of sense to agree with the FRSC recommended 4 years.

After the period of validity, the tyres risk getting burst while in use, especially when running in hot weather. So, to find out if your tyres are expired – first, look on the sidewall, or the surface of the tyre, you would find a stamp that looks thus: (*3006*).

There is an asterisk at the beginning and at the end of this number (although some tyres don’t have asterisks).

The last four numbers identify the date of manufacture of the tyre to the nearest week. That is, the first two digits represent the week of manufacture, while the last two digits represents the year of manufacture.

So, in this case (* 3006*), the tyre was manufactured on the 30th week in 2006. Thus, the expiry date would be the 30th week of 2010 ( that is, 4 years from date of manufacture)

So with this knowledge, and for safety purpose, it is important for us to regularly check on our vehicle tyres.

Like the saying goes – its better safe than sorry.

Be Very Careful: Checkout 3 Signs That Your Phone Has Been Hacked

Illustrative photo

With the rising vice of hacking in our society, it is important to know about some clear signs that can help you discern if your phone has been tampered with in any way. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares 4 clear signs your phone was hacked.

Your Phone Suddenly Reboots Itself

This can be caused by two main things. The first is that your phone might be experiencing some performance issues, a system breakdown of some sort. The second is that it might of course have been hacked and the sudden reboot is a consequence of your phone being tapped. Other signs that accompany your phone’s sudden reboot is your phone also suddenly dialing numbers and starting applications on its own.

Noises or Echoes During Your Calls

If you all of a sudden start to hear noises or echoes during your calls, and this has never happened when you’re either calling those number or making the calls at that location, your phone might have been hacked and your calls are probably being monitored or listened in on.

Appearance of Mysterious Apps

You can all of sudden notice apps on your phone you don’t remember installing, while this might mean that a friend or relative might have installed it without permission, if you can’t point to anyone of those who have access to your phone as the one responsible for installing the app, then you can at that point consider that your phone might have been hacked. Hackers can plant apps on phones to snoop, perform actions on their behalf, explore calendars, access GPS etc.

These ‘hacker apps’ can be even be hidden on your phone and be running in the background, this is why you might notice a rapidly decreasing battery life or your phone getting warm out of the blue without you making calls with it or working with it in anyway. To deal with this, it is best to avoid downloading just any kind of app, especially those that come with pop-up ads.

Though it is a common belief that full-view display screens are more susceptible to damage. “In accordance to consumers’ preferences, we are gradually becoming camera driven and this trend is evident in the camera-centric designs of our smartphones.? ?Adopting our strategy of ‘think globally, act locally’, we are able to understand our consumers’ preferences and provide them with every support necessary to ensure that they can express themselves wholeheartedly,” Eric added.

Meet 27Yr Old John Collison The Youngest Billionaire In The World, He Dropped Out Of School Like Bill Gates

John Collison, the cofounder and president of Stripe, is the world’s youngest self-made billionaire at 27. John Collison founded the tech company Stripe in 2010, when he was only 19.
Now Collison, 27, can call himself the youngest self-made billionaire in the world, with a net worth totaling $1.1 billion after Stripe’s $9 billion valuation in 2016. The company was designed to transform the way websites accept online payments, and it’s a favorite of huge companies like Lyft and Facebook.
Collison started the company with his older brother Patrick, Stripe’s CEO. Though the siblings have struck Silicon Valley gold, they haven’t forgotten their humble roots in small-town Ireland.
Today, Collison enjoys flying planes, running, and hiking with members of the Stripe team.
Read on to learn more about the world’s youngest self-made billionaire.
John was born in Limerick, Ireland, in 1990, and his family eventually settled in the small village of Dromineer.
Collison, a brilliant student, finished with the highest possible marks on his Leaving Certificate, the equivalent of final exams in the US.
Collison was accepted into Harvard before even taking his final exams, which he aced anyway.
Before he entered college, Collison had already become a millionaire with his older brother Patrick. They had launched a software firm that made it easier for sellers to manage transactions on eBay.
Collison came to the US to study physics at Harvard in 2009. “It is a weird thing — people are almost surprised that I’m going to college,” he told Ireland’s Independent at the time. “There’s absolutely no doubt that college is what I want to do.”
However, by the next year, Collison had changed his tune — he dropped out and headed to Silicon Valley with Patrick to start what would become Stripe.
At first, the brothers rode their bikes to their Palo Alto office every day, in part because they were too cheap to buy a car.
Stripe made its public debut in 2011. The company aimed to simplify the way businesses accepted online transactions by allowing them to integrate payment processing into their websites, instead of forcing users to register and make an account every time.
By 2015, Stripe was valued at $5 billion, and in November 2016, it spiked to a whopping $9.2 billion. The valuation brought Collison’s fortune to $1.1 billion, making him the youngest self-made billionaire in the world at age 26.
Today, the company employs 750 people and is run out of San Francisco. Its customers include huge companies like Lyft and Facebook.
Collison is a licensed pilot and enjoys flying in his free time.
